During 5-9 of December the international trade fair and contemporary design forum – Design Miami – will bring together in the American continent the most influential collectors, gallerists, designers, curators, and critics. A diverse selection of expositions featuring both pioneering and cutting-edge designers will participate in this ambitious event. The world’s top galleries are on the exhibitor list to present the essence of contemporary furniture, lighting, art objects together with new product ideas.
Among the highlights, Martina Simeti’s interdisciplinary project “The Corner Piece №2” featuring stools by Max Bill; enhanced versions of ordinary objects by Ligia Dias; a sugar cube as adornment by Meret Oppenheim, with many others are at the booth display.
Bringing together conceptual and craft practices, the project questions the notion of artistic field, the subjective value of a given object, be it artwork or product, as well as the exhibition form in itself.
Friedman Benda comes to Design Miami with a presentation using a Zen rock garden as a curatorial premise. Highlighting the breadth of each designers’ expression, this presentation displays core elements of a Japanese garden, such as rock, water, timber with industrial materials steel and glass.
The project by Rudy Ricciotti for Maison Philippe Gravier «Elements of Architecture» is a discussion around architectural language, each architect’s personal signature, and the quality of excellence. Galerie Philippe Gravier is striving toward an ideal inscribed in both the artistic and environmental landscapes with the use of crafting from solid wood in modern furniture design.
Every participant will no doubt satisfy his demand for high-end novelty items as well as broaden his knowledge and awareness about the modern design world.
