The Spanish interior designer has filled new Milan hotel Room Mate Giulia with a color clash of custom modern furniture from Italian luxury brand Cassina.
According to Patricia Urquiola, “Room Mate has given me complete freedom, as they are not afraid to make a difference. Room Mate Giulia combines the essence of Milan because it’s new, fresh, fun and welcoming. All the hotel reflects the city through its colors, materials, images, irony, the mix of different languages and also its rigor.” This space describes itself as a “perfect combination of original design, fashion, luxury, and architecture”. This was the design guide to build and create something stunning and such a marvelous modern bedroom.
The hotel is situated in a late 19th-century building across from Milan’s famous Piazza del Duomo. The Duomo’s pink marble is the key influence on the interior, which features the material in its lobby. This space also showcases traditional terracotta bricks from Lombardy, wrapped around a curved wall to create a tridimensional effect.
The luxury hotel‘s 85 rooms are designed to have a different and vintage dynamic and feel. As well as Cassina modern furniture pieces, the spaces spotlight artworks by Milanese artists. All the bedrooms designed by the interior designer have white ceilings with a geometric grid pattern, a reference to the city’s graphic arts. This feature extends onto the upper part of the walls, which are painted in muted shades like moss green and duck-egg blue.
Urquiola created a colorful and dynamic bedroom luxury interior design intended to reflect the personality of the design capital and this luxury hotel identity.
